Rumors continue to surface that Samsung is preparing a radical overhaul of the Galaxy S series. According to a recent report by ETNews, the company may be phasing out the Plus model, which has been a part of the series for years, along with the Galaxy S26 series. We’ll likely see the Galaxy S26 Edge instead.
Why the Galaxy S26 Edge?
The primary reason Samsung made this radical decision is that the Plus model has been the least popular member of the series in recent years. The numbers clearly illustrate this. During this year’s pre-order period for the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S25+ accounted for only 22% of all orders. In contrast, the standard Galaxy S25 model and the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra accounted for 52% and 26%, respectively. In the face of declining demand, Samsung is apparently looking to revitalize its product line with a more exciting and innovative model.
For Samsung, the Edge is not just a model name; it also represents a legacy of innovation. The company, which introduced the curved screen concept to the smartphone world years ago with the Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge models and shaped the industry, may be aiming to bring back this iconic name, both to evoke a sense of nostalgia among tech enthusiasts and to emphasize the new model’s “boundary-pushing” identity.
What will the Galaxy S26 Edge features be like?
Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 Edge will not be just a name; it will also feature powerful hardware. Here are the first leaked technical details:
- Display: 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Processor: Samsung’s in-house 2nm Exynos 2600 or Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chipset, depending on the market.
- Memory and Storage: 256GB and 512GB storage options supported by 12GB of RAM.

- Main Camera: 200MP high-definition primary sensor.
